Education

Solo Resource Recovery believes that community education plays an important role in the successful implementation and provisioning of waste management services.

Education programs utilise community engagement tools and activities, to assist in the goal of achieving an overall reduction in waste to landfill, and also to deliver efficient waste management practices.

This includes distributing and displaying promotional material such as hand flyers, billboard signs, truck signwriting and general information material.

Solo also undertake advertising and social media activity, which helps to foster interest in waste collection and waste management. Solo maintains a consistent presence in the community which helps to highlight important aspects of the waste industry and tips for how the residence themselves can make a difference.

Sustainability

Solo Resource Recovery works hard to make a sustainable future a reality for everyone. Solo continues to produce efficient environmentally friendly collection vehicles, with ongoing research into alternate fuels through the trialing of electric and hydrogen collection technologies.

Solo has also recently introduced a fleet of full electric education vans in Victoria and New South Wales as part of ongoing sustainability efforts. As a well-known and established waste management company Solo deliver the invaluable benefit of over 90 years of industry specific expertise, with informed knowledge of the Australian domestic waste industry.

Technology

Solo Resource Recovery understands the importance that collection statistics play in the overall management of council waste. That is why collection vehicles are fitted with specifically designed in-vehicle waste management systems (IVMS) and high definition cameras.

The IVMS is responsible for recording driver notifications such as bin presentation issues, and contamination events. Most events automatically register if a bin got emptied without needing input from the driver, due to sensors fitted to the lifter arm.

GPS tracking allows council officers and operations to monitor the waste collection in real-time, while tracking the position and status of our waste vehicles. Modules which make up the system are:

  • Asset management
  • Collections analysis
  • Database management
  • Fleet monitoring
  • GPS
  • Photo capture
  • RFID
  • Service exceptions
  • Driver Fatigue management

Each module allows for detailed operational data and reporting thanks to the integration between the IVMS hardware and cloud based software portal. Working together with council through a common cloud based portal simplifies the management and streamlines communication.
