Great Southern Waste and SOLO Resource Recovery is proposing a Study Tour to Sarpsborg Norway targeted specifically to assist Local Councils in the South-East of Melbourne to help inform Council in decision-making process for those that are exploring the opportunities to embrace proven Waste To Energy as a higher order point of disposal above Landfill for Council residual wastes

The Tour is proposed to visit a fully operational Plant in Sarpsborg Norway, which in simple terms, is typically replicate of our EPA WA(Vic) approved project with matching Energos Technology, proposed for Great Southern’s WTE development in Dandenong South.

The tour will provide for full plant and operations access, and further extended time to speak directly with plant operations staff and the technology owners.

The Tour is proposed to be commencing:

Monday 22nd May 2023 on site 

Tuesday 23rd May 2023:  Q&A Session with Technology Owners

The proposed Tour dates may change subject to the level of interest and attendees’ availability so there is some flexibility to accommodate changes to maximise the opportunity.

As you would expect, each participant is responsible for their own travel, travel insurance and accommodation costs. 

Great Southern will arrange and provide the bus ground transport for Mon 23rd, to and from the site plant and light refreshments for the Q&A session Tuesday 24th

Solo Waste

Proposed Study Tour Itinerary:

Monday 23 May

  • Participants will meet CBD OSLO and be taken by bus to the Plant, which is approximately 1 > 1.5 Hrs drive.
  • PPE gear of Safety glasses, Hard Hat, Hi Viz Vest and suitable closed boots will be the required minimum (please bring this kit with you)
  • You will be guided through (subject to plant operational conditions of the day) the plant from the waste receival hall, through to the feed process, you can view the gasification process through special viewing sections, follow the bottom ash streams, enter the control room to view first hand operations data in real time, and opportunity to speak with day shift staff (translations if needed will be catered for Norwegian to English) 
  • Subject to plant conditions, photos are typically allowed but TBC on site.
  • There is not planned to be a time limit on the site visit, and so expect 2>4 hrs end to end on site (pls bring any snacks you need)
  • The group will return to OSLO CBD mid-afternoon with no specific activities planned on return.

Tuesday 24 May

  • Participants will meet at the offices of Energos in Oslo, or other suitable place for extended Q&A discussions with: Energos, Great Southern, and SOLO Waste   Subject to availability to potentially include (Great Southern’s EPC Construction Contractor + O&M Operators – TBC) 
  • If time permits, a small and informal social downtime get together is planned before the return trip to home.
