Domestic Recycling Services
|
Solo Resource Recovery is committed to the development of new recycling
initiatives and the
enhancement of existing recycling services.
The separation of waste and recovery of recyclable material will extend the life span of existing landfills.
Recycling is also great for our environment. By recycling, we reduce the need for raw materials to make products.
|
Why Recycle? |
| |
|
| To save energy – |
By recycling we reduce our power consumption and, therefore, our output of harmful greenhouse gases from fossil fuel burning. |
| |
|
| To save resources – |
By recycling we reduce our demand for raw materials and therefore, our impact on the environment. |
| |
|
| To reduce disposal costs – |
It is becoming more and more expensive to dispose of our waste in land-fill sites and by other means. By recycling we reduce our contribution to pollution and waste disposal problems. |
| |
|
| |
Here at Solo Resource Recovery we provide Recyclables collection
services in similar sized bins to those available for garbage collection.
We are expert in providing a Recyclables collection service that is tailored to your demographics,
budget and objectives.
Automated side loading lifters are used to collect the MGBs and the
vehicle can be engineered to accept either an undivided or a divided bin. |
| |
|
| SCORR - |
As an alternative to dedicated bins
for garbage and recycling, our SCORR (Simultaneous Collection
of Refuse and Recyclables) system and
SCRAP (Simultaneous
Collection
of Recyclables and Paper/Cardboard) system work by placing a divider
inside the wheelie bin, either at the time of assembly or retrofitted
to existing bins in the field. The divider allows for separation
of either garbage and recyclables or differing recyclables such
as paper/cardboard and glass/cans/plastics. These systems have
grown in popularity as they provide many benefits, including lower
costs and a single bin collected weekly. |

Recycling Household Waste |
The four main ingredients of household rubbish are:
* Organic matter * Glass * Paper * Metal |
| |
|
| Organic matter - |
Recycling organic waste is the simplest of the
recycling processes and the easiest one to carry out out
at home. The complete cycle from food to decomposition and back
to
food
again can take as little as two years. |
| |
|
| Glass – |
When it is added to new glass, waste glass reduces the need for high furnace temperatures and so saves energy. Up to 100% of recycled glass can be added to the mix in a furnace. All this could be supplied by recycling household glass. |
| |
|
| Paper – |
Recycled paper is de-inked and then immersed
in a chemical bath to separate its fibres. Certain papers have
different recycling values, i.e. waste office paper is particularly
useful as it is usually high quality paper that is lightly inked. |
| |
|
| Metal – |
Metal cans may contain steel, aluminum, tin lead or a number of these metals. |
| |
|
