Organics

Items collected

  • Branches – trimmed to fit inside the garden organics (green waste) bin with the lid closed; maximum diameter 10 centimetres
  • Leaves
  • Twigs
  • Grass clippings
  • Non-noxious weeds (soil removed)

Items not Collected

Garden organics (green waste) is reprocessed into a range of soil improvement products.
As garden organics (green waste) may eventually be used on other gardens, the following are not accepted:

  • Noxious weeds such as ivy or blackberries
  • Garden organics (green waste) in plastic bags
  • Wire, cloth, material, plastic or nylon ties
  • Soil
  • Tree roots and stumps
  • Recyclable materials
  • Garbage

After your green waste is collected it is taken to a mulching station and chipped. It is then composted for 6-8 weeks, which kills any pathogens and weed seeds. Please do not include plastic bags, plant pots, rubble, dirt, large logs or stumps.
