Solo’s first municipal contract started 80 years ago in the Tweed valley with a new International truck. Since then we have introduced industry changing innovations such as the side loader and divided bin collection systems which have revolutionised the safety, efficiency and accessibility of waste services throughout Australia. We currently service over 20 local government areas in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. From a single truck that serviced outhouses in the 1930s we now have vehicles that perform recycling, garbage and organics services using a variety of bins.
Our services have expanded from collection to incorporate the processing and disposal of materials as well. We operate transfer stations, landfills, recycling facilities and liquid waste treatment plants, with our Mornington Peninsula operations recently winning a Leadership in the Public Sector Award (Feb 2013) with Council for our work to increase diversion of waste from less than 20% to greater than 60%.
Technology is also very dynamic in the waste industry. Solo have tested many GPS, weighing, video and communications systems and fitted several systems to new vehicles. Our GPS systems have proven to be reliable and informative, the weighing systems helpful to avoid overloading and video and communications systems useful for safety and contamination management.
In all of our operations we strive to exceed our Council customers’ expectation by delivering reliable, professional and innovative services. To ensure continual improvement our Chinderah Head Office maintains triple certification for our Quality, Safety and Environment Management Systems.
Our point of difference lies however in our approach to our municipal clients. We work cooperatively, diligently and flexibly with Council officers to develop a great relationship that produces great results.
